Brendan Murphy and Brock Cooley have the Round 2 of the Clubmans 2Hour race held at Hampton Downs from Pole Position with the Winger Group BMW 235i of Wayne Leach and Paul Burborough finishing second and the Online Contractors BMW 235i of Todd and Rhys Bawden finishing third.
Drama would start before the race had even started where Scott Smith and Shaun van Beers had undone all their hard work from qualifying in fourth position then being caught in Pit Lane when the Pitlane exit to go the grid closed.
Todd and Rhys Bawden led the initial stages of the race while it wasn’t raining the track was far from dry while Ken Hunter, Lindsay Lyons and Scott Smith start carving their way through the field.
The safety car was called 24minutes into the race where car 124 24 Red Racing Honda Integra driven by Thomas Mallard beached itself at turn 3. The Racelab prepared cars of Allan Sargeant and David Grigor took this opportunity to get their compulsory 3minute pitstop out of the way. Mark Mallard elected to take his opportunity to get his 3minute pitstop done but elected not to hand the car over to Graham Ball as the Crème Insurance 86 wouldn’t get to flag without another pitstop. Lindsay Lyons would take the opportunity to hand the ST Automotive Honda CR-X over to car owner Shane Parsons.
The car who pitted under Safety Car would slowly crawl back positions. Brendan Murphy would hand his Seat Leon Supercopa over to newly crowned Tradezone GT2 Champion Brock Cooley at the 57minute mark. While David Grigor was forced to pit for another set of tyres.
The Bawden brother made their pitstop of the 1hour 17minute mark and Brock Cooley would take over the lead when the pitstops were completed.
Mark Mallard would hand his Toyota 86 to newly crowned BMW 2Litre Champion Graham Ball at the 90minute mark. While their would be no recovery for the Racelab prepared cars as both David Grigor and Allan Sargeant were forced to make a third pitstop after both suffered punctures.
Martin Dunn/Andrew Johnston Honda Accord would make a second pitstop for tyres while disaster struck for Graham Ball as he was forced to pit for a splash and dash and taking away a podium in Class 3.
The Winger Group BMW 235i would make a late charge at Brock Cooley but was unsuccessful while Allan Sargeant showed great pace setting the fastest lap in the dying stages of the race.
Shane Parsons/Lindsay Lyons remain Championship leaders with a 20point gap over David Grigor with Glen Reid and Jamie Anderson sit third in the standings with two rounds remaining
